With just the right wind strength, one can have a great time flying kites. Gone are the days when the basic design was a square, triangle or rectangle piece of lightweight paper or material tied to an end of a string. Nowadays, there are more varied, unique, fun and even unusual kite designs.

Kites are a safe toy or play item because it does not have protruding or sharp edges that could harm the flier. This, however, does not mean that adult supervision is not advised as the chance of harm being caused by the string and some designs of kites for younger kite fliers is relatively high. Most kites are recommended for those over the age of 5 and this varies in size, weight and other features. For younger fliers, there are designs that will appeal to them as compared to a kite that has a map of the world printed on it (although this could come in handy one day during a fun study session).

If you are looking for a playhouse for your child, you will want to do a comparison in order to decide on purchasing a wooden one, or a plastic one. There are a lot of things that you should consider when you are making this decision. You want to get your child a playhouse that is safe, fun, and allows their imagination to run wild. There are benefits to each types of playhouse, you have to use your own discretion in deciding on the proper one for your child.

A wooden playhouse, such as the KidKraft Wooden Playhouse, will allow your child to feel like a little adult. They can make believe that they have their own home. Some things children like about the KidKraft Wooden Playhouse is that it has the appearance of a wooden cabin. It has a working wooden door that opens and closes, a sink, and its own mailbox. This playhouse is also weather resistant. This will help it to stand up to the weather conditions for much longer. It will fit 2 to 3 children in it at a time, this gives the kids somewhere to play where they can feel independent. It is suggested for children that are between the ages of 2 and 8 years old. This playhouse costs about $359.00.

Another option for you is a plastic playhouse. One Plastic playhouse that you will want to take a look at when you are doing your comparison is the Step2 Nature Station Playhouse. This playhouse will also give your child the feeling of being out in nature, as it provides that same cabin appearance. This playhouse has a round window which features a working shutter. It also has a sink so that your child will feel like a real little grown up. If your child loves nature, they will appreciate the features that have been put in to place to help them feel like a real outdoors person. There is a shelf for examining things like flowers and bugs, as well as an entire kit of bug finding tools. It also fits 2 to 3 children, the age range for this playhouse is 3 to 5 years. This playhouse costs about $259.00, as you can see the plastic ones tend to run cheaper.

When you are doing your comparison of wooden versus plastic playhouses you want to consider where the playhouse will be kept. If you live in a sunny climate, the wooden playhouse may be a better choice. However, if you are planning on having the playhouse in the house or on a patio area, then you may want to go with the plastic playhouse. While both of these playhouses will provide your child with hours of entertainment, you will want to choose the one that fits your child’s personality. If your child is more concerned with making their playhouse feel like a regular home, then the KidKraft will provide them this. However, the Step2 Nature Station Playhouse is just the thing for a child that wants to have a place they can go to enjoy investigating their findings in your yard. If you are looking for a larger playhouse, then you will find that the plastic models are much easier to fit into your budget, they can run you hundreds of dollars less than the wooden playhouses.Similar Posts:

“Is a modern plastic sled or an old fashioned wooden sled safer for snow play?”

To a child, nothing can be more fun than getting out there and enjoying a good sled ride after a winter’s snow. However, you will want to be sure that your child is as safe as possible while they are enjoying their fun in the snow. It’s very important that you choose your child’s sled carefully. There are things that you should know about the sled you choose to purchase. You may also be wondering in what ways the modern plastic sleds differ from the old fashioned wooden ones, and which one you should choose for your child.

When you are looking at the modern sleds made from plastic, you want to make sure that they are geared for children your child’s age. You want to verify that they have all of the safety features of a good sled. You should also get a sled which allows your child to be able to steer or stop the direction of the sled, this can really help to decrease the chances of an accident. One thing you will want to take in consideration is that these sleds can go very fast.

This is why you want to make sure that you know the layout of the entire area they will be sledding in so that you know they won’t get in any dangerous situations. The sled should have easy to grip handholds, allow for your child to sit forward or kneel, and the seat should come with some padding to help absorb shock. The good thing is that a lot of the modern plastic sleds on the market offer these features.

Old fashioned wooden sleds can be a bit safer for your child when it comes to speed. They do tend to go quite a bit slower than the modern ones. However, there are some things to consider when you are thinking of purchasing an old fashioned wooden sled. One thing to realize is that the wooden sleds come with a common danger of their own, these sleds are mounted on metal rails. These metal rails can be dangerous and your child risks injury due to such things as their feet becoming lodged in the space below the seat.

There are many different styles on the market, there are even sleds that will fit two children. These sleds can be a lot of fun for both children, but you want to make sure that the two seater sled is designed in a way that will have both children sitting in a safe manner and that both children will have easy access to easy-to-grip handholds.

It’s up to you to make the final decision on whether a modern plastic sled, or an old fashioned wooden sled is the best choice for your family. When you do make that choice and get a sled, you will want to think about getting some safety equipment that your family member or child can wear to stay safe while they are having fun. A helmet is a very good idea and can really help to lower the chances of a head injury while a person is sledding.Similar Posts:

For those looking to have a blast this winter, look no further than the Flexible Flyer PT Blaster. This advanced sled allows you to have fun, all while staying in control and being safe. See unlike other sleds, the PT Blaster is equipped with a full, working steering wheel. So instead of going wherever the snow wants you to, with the PT Blaster, you can go where YOU want to go!

I myself have had many sleds in my life, and several of them have had steering wheels. However, until I got the PT Blaster, I had never had a sled that actually turned quickly and safely. The wheel is attached to a ski-like piece that turns to the direction you want to go as you turn the wheel. There are no rough or overly rapid turns, and avoiding obstacles is a breeze with the PT Blaster.

If you’re a thrill seeker, you will be happy to learn that the PT Blaster is incredibly fast. The slick design allows for rapid acceleration, and the advanced steering system ensures that your ride is not cut short by obstacles. Plus, since the sled is easy to steer, you shouldn’t have a problem hitting those jumps!

If you’re worried about safety, take comfort in the fact that the PT Blaster is one of the safest sleds available today. While it CAN go fast and be used for dangerous activities, it can also be slowed fairly rapidly by its built-in brake. That’s right – unlike most sleds, the PT Blaster has a working brake. Powered by springs, the brake works very well to slow you down, but usually won’t bring you to a complete stop, unless the hill is not too steep. Regardless, this is one of the safest sleds available today, and it has consistently been reviewed positively by customers from around the world.

While many sleds are made out of cheap plastic that breaks after just a few hours of use, the PT Blaster is made from extremely durable, thick plastic. Though it is small, it can support quite a bit of weight, and it will not break easily. And since it’s made out of plastic, it’s still lightweight and quick. The sled is even strong enough to resist breaking when it makes contact with trees, fences, and other obstacles – though you should be able to avoid these things with the highly responsive steering system!

The only real complaint I have heard about the PT Blaster is that it’s hard to assemble. It comes in pieces, and many consumers say that they had difficulty putting it together. However, most of these complaints were counterbalanced by the fact that this sled is built to last, so once you do have it together, it should work perfectly for years to come. Overall, this is by far one of the best sleds on the market, so if you’re willing to spend a few extra bucks, the PT Blaster by Flexible Flyer is highly recommended.Similar Posts:

If you are looking for the perfect toy for your child, then you will want to take a look at MOOV. This is a unique toy that will allow your child to use their imagination to build toys that they will be able to ride on and play with. Since MOOV comes with all the pieces needed to create many different toys, the possibilities are endless. When you receive this kit, it will come with wheels, axles, rings, and everything else that is needed to create such great toys as bikes, scooters, cranes, and more.

Another great thing about MOOV is that your child will be able to put together any of these toys all without the use of any tools. If your child loves to build things, then you already know how hard it can be to find a kit for them that will allow them to create and build many different things with just that one kit. With this kit they will be able to build different things by themselves, or with your help. When you build something with your child, it can create a great bonding moment for the two of you.

If you are looking for a special gift for your child, MOOV will be a great choice. Imagine the look on your child’s face when they open their new MOOV kit. It will provide your child with hours of enjoyment. They will be able to build bikes that they can ride around the neighborhood, or box cars to drive around the yard. If your child really wants to get creative, then they can also come up with their own creations! You have your choice of three different kits, this will allow you to get the best kit for your child.

The starter kit comes with two wheels and over 125 components. It comes with everything your child will need to create a bike, a snow scooter, or a crane. This kit is designed to allow your child to put these toys together by themselves and without the need for any tools.

The advanced kit contains three wheels and over 150 parts. Your child will be able to build seven different models with this one kit. It comes with everything that your child needs to build a bike, a chopper, a dino bird, a helicopter, a crane, a scooter, and a snow scooter.

The street kit is the largest MOOV kit and it comes with more than 175 parts, it also includes four wheels. The street kit will allow your child to make a trike, a carver, a bike, a chopper, a racer, a scooter, a crane, a helicopter, a dino bird, and a snow scooter. As with the other models, these toys can be assembled by your child easily and with out a need for tools of any kind.

When you purchase the award winning MOOV kit for your child, not only are you giving them a gift that will keep on giving, but you are also helping them to use their imagination, improve their fine motor skills, and create wonderful toys for themselves that they can be proud of.Similar Posts:

Kids love playing outside in the garden and there is a wide selection of outdoor toys available for kids to play on. You should think carefully before choosing a suitable outdoor toy for your children. How much space do you have in your garden? Some larger toys if not used all the time can take up space particularly if you have a small garden or lack of storage. How old are your children? Bear in mind that some toys are suitable for older children and may be dangerous if you have little ones. How much wear and tear do you think the toy can take? Children tend to be much rougher with their toys outdoors so make sure that the toy can handle it. Here are five of the most popular outdoor toys.

Climbing Frame: These come in a variety of sizes and some have added swings or slides. You can purchase a toddlers size activity gym that comes with a slide and crawl through tubes or there are frames with platforms, nets and bridges for the more adventurous older children.

Bicycles are a very popular form of outdoor play and are suitable from a young age to adulthood. You can purchase tricycles and push bikes for toddlers. School age children can ride bikes although they may require stabilizers. Older children may be interested in mountain bikes. Always ensure that they are wearing a helmet for their safety.

Scooters have become very popular just recently amongst children. Again you can buy smaller sized scooters for younger children and older ones can buy versions with flashing wheels and stylish colours. Again focus on safety and ensure that your children are playing in a safe area.

Trampoline: Pre-school trampolines can help young children learn and develop through play. When buying a trampoline for the family you need to think about who will be jumping on it in a couple of years time. You can buy them in a variety of shapes such as rectangular or square; they also take a maximum weight.

Football: The football is probably the all time favorite toy for boys and girls during outdoor play. You can buy accessories to go with footballs such as boots, kit, protective gear and signed balls. Goals with nets are also available. For younger children you can buy soft balls for their protection. Just a standard football, though, can provide a group of kids years of fun.

If you are a parent of a preschooler, you know that there is nothing better than being able to send him or her outside to play for a while. It’s healthy, it’s fun, and last but not least it gets your child outside for a few hours. But when choosing a toy, you should choose it carefully. It involves a number of factors ‘ how long it will last, how fast the child will get bored of it, and how confident you can be in its safety.

Probably the most popular toy of all is the simple tricycle. Put a preschooler on a tricycle, set firm rules about sidewalks, driveways, and roads, and you will see him pedal for hours. Get a tricycle that is colorful and child-friendly, with a low center of gravity and no exposed gears or mechanical parts.

Sports sets are great ideas for preschoolers, particularly if your yard is the ‘hangout’ of all the neighborhood kids. Consider getting a softball set, with a plastic batting stand, bat, and ball. As long as the equipment is child-friendly, you shouldn’t have too many crying kids.

Of course, no boyhood is complete without some sort of truck set. Walk into a toy store, and you will see all sorts of cartoonish toy trucks and cars. Send a couple of boys into a sandbox with their dump trucks, and you’ll be surprised at how entertained they will be, simply moving the sand from place to place.

If you’ve got a tree in your yard, you can hang a swing. The best part is that you can essentially customize it for the age you are dealing with. You can put a baby in a strap-in swinging seat, or you can put some preschoolers on a tire swing. Just get the rope and the seat, and you’re good to go.

One thing that you may not have considered is to simply buy a book of games. There are hundreds of different games that don’t require any equipment or toys, just the kids. Games of Tag and Capture the Flag last for hours, and leave the kids thoroughly winded.

You will find that kids will almost always find something to entertain themselves. Your goal as a parent should be to encourage healthy outdoor activity to raise a well-rounded child. While video games are fun and challenging, they certainly aren’t meant to be played for 3 hours a day.Similar Posts:

Now there are many definitions of toys. Whether you are talking about toys for small children, teenagers, or adults, the main difference is in how much they cost, the older we are the more expensive toys we buy!

Children are the easiest to please, though. They can make just about anything into a toy. It’s not necessary to spend a fortune. A simple ball and bat, or a flying disc is sometimes worth hours of laughs and healthy exercise. Here are some more ideas.

Sprinklers are timeless. On hot days, nothing beats running through the sunshine over the cool refreshing water coming from a sprinkler. There is a modern beach ball sprinkler that puts a twist on this, too, that you can buy. It looks like a beach ball, but when you turn the water on, it becomes a sprinkler! A big hit!

What about swings? We all remember that from our childhood. Swings are classically fun and entertaining. No growing up experience would be complete without a lot of time spent on the swings. There are many sets available for backyard installation. Make sure you install it properly and maintain it regularly. An un-maintained swing set is a potential safety hazard. That would take away the fun of playtime, now, wouldn’t it?

There are modern sandboxes for the little ones that include play centers in cool colors and also feature an umbrella to keep the tikes from getting sunburn! (Sunscreen is still a good idea, though, whenever necessary.) These play sets also include a small area where a couple gallons of water can be filled in for playing and getting wet without the need for a kiddy pool.

What about climbing frames, jungle gyms, and so on? These types of play sets are fun, but must be considered carefully. Remember that if these systems are too tall for any of your children, you’re risking a fall. To prevent injury, put soft gym mats or other material down underneath the set.

There are also many radio controlled cars and airplanes that can bring hours of enjoyment to your children. You remember those! As children we used to use these toys until the batteries ran out or until they broke! Your kids will, too, and they’ll love every minute of it. Some of the RC racecars are faster than ever before! How about purchasing two of them and let two children, or one child and an adult have a race? The helicopters and airplanes that are radio controlled can fly higher and farther than ever, and can stay in the air longer than before! Definitely worth checking out!

Water guns and other water based toys are a must for summertime fun! Squirt guns aren’t what they used to be. Now there are the pump type rifles with a huge reservoir in the back of the gun. They’re fluorescent in color usually, which keeps the spirit of fun alive (don’t get toy guns that look like real guns—this is not the right impression to leave in a child’s mind!).

Water slides are great, but can be dangerous, so make sure you read and follow any instructions provided with these. Remember: whatever outdoor toys you get for your kids, safety should always be priority #1! Priority #2 is to teach the kids to enjoy whatever they have, not to take things for granted, and to just use their imaginations. Perhaps there is no toy a child can have better than their own imagination!Similar Posts:

“Summer is a wonderful time of year when children can enjoy lots of fresh air and outdoor play. There is certainly no shortage of excellent activities, toys and accessories to entertain and inspire children of all ages.”

Some of the favorite activities among kids include; bubbles, inflatable bouncers and play sets, kites and wind spinners, outdoor furniture, playhouses and play tents, pools and water fun, and sandboxes and beach toys.

Bubbles are one of those outdoor activities that can be enjoyed by babies to adults. Blowing bubbles has never had quite so many options to choose from as it does today. There are plastic bubble lawn mowers, bubble catchers, bubble vision glasses, bubble wands, bubble lights, wands for small to super huge bubbles, no spill bubble buckets, monster bubble blowers, bubble blizzards (that blow nonstop bubbles) and bubble blowers available in popular fictional characters and a myriad of colors and styles. Blowing bubbles is an inexpensive way to have hours of outdoor fun.

One of the most exciting types of play for young children involves using the wide variety of inflatable bouncers and play sets on the market. Your backyard will be the center of activity if you set up one of these wonderful toys. Inflatable bouncers can be purchased in several different sizes from large (9 feet by 9 feet by 6 feet high) able to accommodate several children to small bouncers that only hold two children. Deluxe bouncers offer a fun and safe play environment with continuous air flow for safety and puncture resistant heavy gauge vinyl. There is a wide selection of designs such as castles, popular fictional character themes, inflatable fire engines, school buses, climbing walls, inflatable cars, inflatable play centers and playhouses. Several of the inflatable toys come with soft balls included for tossing, kicking and pushing around within the structure.

Kites, wind spinners and windsocks are a wonderful way for you and your child to interact and enjoy a lovely outdoor activity. The beautiful colors, designs and sizes available will surely be remembered for years to come. Kites can be purchased in an endless array of designs to include; airplanes with spinning propellers, helicopters, birds (flamingos and parrots), sharks, dolphins, butterflies, hummingbirds, fish, dragons, cellular box kites, dolphin kites, sailboats, cellular kites, diamond kites, parasail kites and tri-planes to only name a few. Wind spinners and windsocks come in as many designs as do the kites, in an assortment of fantastic colors and patterns.

Children can enjoy the same comfort that adults do when it comes to outdoor furniture. Whether it be having lunch at their favorite plastic or wooden picnic table or lounging back in their Adirondack chair, it’s always fun for them to be just like mom or dad. Other adorable pieces of children’s outdoor furniture can include; playhouses (complete with doorbell and motion detector), patio sets (with umbrella, table and chairs), fabric patio chairs, plastic mushroom tables, play lemonade stands, plastic mailboxes, plastic stone benches and folding armchairs.

Playhouses provide children with hours of imaginative and pretend play. There is nothing more special to a child than having their own little imaginary home to dream and role play in. Playhouses will often be a part of backyard outdoor toys in either plastic or wooden designs with climbers and swings. Some of the plastic playhouses are available with sounds such as doorbells, phones and motion detectors. Plastic playhouses can be purchased in pirate, cottage, log cabin, mushroom house and camper styles.

Similar to playhouses, play tents are usually made with nylon or plastic and also come in a wide variety of designs and styles. The biggest difference between the two is that play tents are usually much easier to assemble, disassemble and portable if needed. Play tents are available in tunnels (for crawling through), dome play tents, lady bug tents, tents with tunnel addition, school bus, fire engine, bulldozer, playhouses, camouflage tents, popular fictional character theme tents, four tunnels joined by tent in middle, tee pees and castle tents. Fabric parachutes can also be used as tents draped over objects in the home or used for throwing up toys with children in a circle.

It truly feels like summer once everyone has gone for a swim. Pools offer wonderful relief from the hot weather and a refreshing way to have some fun. There are a mountain of pools and pool toys to choose from, whether it be a kiddie pool or a pool lounger there is no shortage of options. Above ground inflatable pools can be found in different sizes to accommodate the kids or the whole family. Kiddie pools are available in sunshade cover designs, popular character themes, different colors and activity pool styles. The pool toys you select will only add to the enjoyment with water guns and canons, kick boards, life jackets, inflatable water wings, retrieval toys, rafts and loungers, inflatable sharks, tubes, inflatable basketball hoops, seat rings and beach balls to name a few.

Lastly, playing in the sand can provide both learning skills and entertainment for any child, whether it be in their backyard sandbox or at the beach. Building sandcastles and sand play is particularly helpful in teaching social skills (sharing, interacting and cooperation), cognitive skills (measuring sand and mapping out roads) and physical skills (pouring, dumping, pushing and gathering sand etc.). Sandbox kits can be purchased to set up or you can select from several designs such as; turtles, castles, water and sand tables, ladybug, dinosaur and frog sandboxes. Sandbox and beach accessories might include; wheelbarrows, pails of all sizes, rakes, shovels, molds and beach chairs.

Outdoor play is a great way for the kids to get out of the house and use their imaginations. All forms of outdoor activities easily promote well-being and physical development. Children love to play outdoors as it allows them the chance to freely explore their environment while developing muscle coordination, flexibility and motor skills while decreasing restlessness and stress. And don’t forget . . . always remember to put sunscreen on your child whenever they are outside.
